Three people face drug charges after a traffic stop ended in a trio of arrests Tuesday afternoon in Broussard.
Louisiana State Police said troopers stopped a 2001 Ford F-150 on U.S. 90 near Morgan Street for a routine violation. The driver of the vehicle, Justin Keahey, 21; and passenger Travis Lapeyrouse, 21; were taken into custody. They were accused of intent to distribute marijuana and the possession of synthetic marijuana.
Troopers said they searched the car and found 34 pounds of marijuana and 387 grams of synthetic marijuana inside.
Keahey and Lapeyrouse were booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. Another passenger, a 15-year-old juvenile, was booked into the Lafayette Parish Juvenile Detention Center.
Authorities estimated the marijuana had a street value of over $40,000.00, and the synthetic marijuana had a street value of over $7,000.00.
