BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - An escape by three teenagers from a juvenile prison near Baton Rouge has resulted in the firing of one employee and administrative leave for three others.
The state Office of Juvenile Justice says the escape took place on Dec. 27 from a dormitory at the Jetson Center for Youth that was left unwatched for eight hours.
Authorities said the three escapees bunched up sheets in their beds to make it look like they were sleeping, went through ceiling tiles and fled through an unlocked door. The trio then scaled an interior fence and cut through another fence topped with barbed wire.
They were recaptured the next day about eight miles from Jetson.
