Suspect sought in Lafayette armed robbery

The following is a press release from the Lafayette Police Department:

On January 6, 2012, at approximately 1:30 am, Lafayette Police responded to 104 East Gloria Switch Road regarding an armed robbery.  According to responding officers, the suspect entered the convenience store with a bandana covering his face and armed with a handgun. The suspect demanded the register be opened and removed all of the cash.  The suspect then exited the store and fled the area in an older model gray colored Buick.  The clerk was not injured during the robbery.

The suspect is described as a black male approximately 5'7". 125 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, back pants and a silver belt.  An undisclosed amount of cash was taken in the robbery.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the suspect to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
