Lake Charles woman arrested for cruelty to a juvenile

The following is a Press Release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

In November 2010, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office received a complaint from the Department of Children and Family Services regarding a report of a 7-year-old girl who had a burn on her scalp and also numerous bruises on her arm.

The investigation revealed Crystal M. Ceasar, 26, of Lake Charles, a family member of the child, had burned the child's scalp with a flat iron and whipped the child with a hair brush, causing bruising to her arm and legs.

After a yearlong investigation and several attempts to locate Ceasar, she was arrested on December 22 by CPSO detectives.  She was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with cruelty to a juvenile.

The child was removed from the home by the Department of Children & Family Services and placed with family members.

Judge Wilford Carter set her bond at $1,000.

CPSO Detective Kathy LeBlanc is the lead investigator on this case.
