United Way exceeds campaign goal for 2011

As we head into this holiday weekend, United Way of Southwest Louisiana is excited to announce it is currently at 101 percent of its 2011 campaign goal.

This year's goal is $3,950,000 and, as of Wednesday, $3,981,719 has been raised.

"We are so proud of our community," said Denise Durel, president and CEO of United Way of Southwest Louisiana. "Southwest Louisiana continues to show its true giving spirit by coming together to help those in need. I want to thank our staff, board of directors, campaign cabinet, agencies, volunteers and donors for making this possible. 'Living united' isn't just something we talk about; it's how we live each and every day."

The mission of United Way is to unite Southwest Louisiana to address our human needs. By focusing on the building blocks for a good life—education, income and health— United Way is working to advance the greater good of our community.
