LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Lake Charles city officials announced this morning that the new Millennium Park will open temporarily during the holidays.

Mayor Randy Roach says the park will open at noon on Friday, December 23rd and remain open until Saturday, December 24th.

It will be closed Sunday, Christmas, but will reopen December 26th from 9:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m.

The park will stay open from 9:00 a.m. To 5:00 p.m. seven days a week during the holidays.

The Lake Charles city council at its meeting tonight will decide on a low bid for phase two of the project.

The original Shiver-Me-Timbers Millennium Park burned down on Sunday, January 9, 2011.

Seth Arceneaux, 17, was arrested on January 24th and charged with simple arson in connection with the blaze. He pleaded not guilty to the charges on June 3rd.

His trial has been scheduled for March 5, 2012.
