Lake Charles wife arrested for husband's murder

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

UPDATE: KPLC's Olivia Vidal is at the press conference in reference to the murder of 62-year-old Joseph Sias.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office stated that they have made an arrest of 52-year-old Darlene Sias.

Officials say she turned herself in last night around 11:30 p.m. for killing her husband.

Her bond is set at $1-million. No details about how he was murdered have been released.

We will continue to keep you updated as more information becomes available.


The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is still investigating a murder at the 5700 block of California Trail, east of Lake St. and south of University.

The victim has been identified as 62-year-old Joseph Sias. 

The Coroner's Office has not completed its autopsy or investigation, but there is ample evidence and Sheriff Mancuso said they should expect some more answers within the next few days.

As for the cause of death or the details in Sias' death, that has not been released. 

"We have what we believe are some very promising leads that we're trying to follow up on and confirm. One of those is some blood tests we want to do in our lab which is going to take us 12 to 15 hours to confirm," Mancuso said. "That may help us lead to an arrest."

    One local fraternity made sure some families in Southwest Louisiana had a fully cooked meal to enjoy for Christmas. "We have turkeys and hams, but it's enough food in the box to feed a family of eight," said  Mark Gallashaw, president of Kappa Alpha Psi's Lake Charles Alumni Chapter. Thirty-five boxes of cooked meals are getting ready to be delivered to families across Southwest Louisiana.

    The Lake Charles Police Department has arrested one person after a nearly 20-minute pursuit Saturday afternoon. LCPD received a call of a person shooting a firearm from a vehicle on the 1900 block of Prejean Drive in the afternoon, said LCPD Deputy Chief Mark Kraus. Police located the vehicle near Hwy 14. A 19-minute pursuit then ensued, and ended with a suspect arrested.
