The following is a Press Release from Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:
On December 14 around 2:00 a.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched in reference to a burglary alarm at a local store on Lake Street in Lake Charles.
When deputies arrived, they discovered the back door of the business was open and had been damaged. After deputies cleared the store checking for possible subjects, the store manager arrived and was able to access video surveillance footage. The video captured a man entering through the back door of the store and stealing miscellaneous items. After viewing the video, deputies were able to get a detailed description of the suspect, including the clothing he was wearing.
Deputies at the scene then observed a man who matched the description of the suspect sitting on a bicycle in front of the store. When deputies approached the man, later identified as Byron K. Nora, 56, of Lake Charles, he fled on his bicycle. Deputies quickly apprehended Nora and arrested him in connection with the burglary.
Nora was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with simple burglary; theft under $500; simple criminal damage to property; and resisting an officer.
Judge Wilford Carter set his bond at $3,500.
