The following is a Press Release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

On December 1 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) Detective Sgt. Jeff Cole conducted a stop on a car near mile marker 30 traveling east on I-10 for a traffic violation.  The driver of the car, Phillip A. Conage, 25, and passenger Johnathan M. Neal, 29, both of Tampa Bay, Florida, told the detective they were traveling back home to Florida from Dallas.

After Conage and Neal began to act suspiciously during the traffic stop, Sgt. Cole asked for permission to search the car and they refused to allow the search.  Sgt. Cole's K-9 "Basco" alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the trunk of the car.  After searching the car, Sgt. Cole located approximately 5 pounds of marijuana in the trunk, with an estimated street value of over $10,000.

Conage and Neal were both arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
