    Over the last couple of weeks someone has been circulating so-called BP oil claim forms in the Lake Charles area. While man, if not most medical claims associated with the Deepwater Horizon oil spill have been settled, someone is holding meetings around the Lake area trying to get people to sign up. But they're not too forthcoming when it comes to saying who they are or who they represent. LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

KPLC is accepting donations today at the Capital One Bank building downtown Lake Charles. 

KPLC, in partnership with Capital One Bank, and the Employees of Christus St Patrick Hospital, provides over 800 local families in the 5 parish area with food for a Christmas meal and toys for their children.

Collection dates are December 1st – 17th.

We need to gather together enough non perishable foods, toys and monetary  donations to meet the needs of our families.  Monetary donations are used to buy items we still need at the end of the drive, usually both food and toys.

All the turkeys have been donated by the employees of CSPH

All the rice has been donated by Farmers Rice Mill and bagged by 4-H volunteers at the LSU Ag Center

Items needed:

  • 3600 cans of green beans, corn, etc.
  • 825 cake mixes and 825 cans of icing
  • 2000 corn bread mixes
  • 2000, macaroni & cheese mixes, stuffing mixes
  • Additional items we'd like to include are canned fruits, soups, other side dishes

 

Toys for over 1,800 boys and girls thru 12 years of age:

  • Dolls
  • Art supplies
  • Books
  • Sports equipment
  • Board games
  • Cd players

 

Donation boxes are located at all area branches of Capital One Bank, Market Basket, Kroger and Wal Mart Stores. Donations can also be dropped off at the station.  Checks can be made out to and mailed to:
