The following is a Press Release from the Vernon Parish Sheriff's  Office:

Sheriff Sam Craft announces the arrests of Morgan Elizabeth Walker, age 24, of Rosepine and Steven Briggs, age 26, of Rosepine.

On November 22nd, 2011 the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office received a complaint involving an 87-year-old male from the Leesville area.

Contained in the report were allegations that the 87-year-old male was a victim of Exploitation of the Infirm which includes the exploitation of an aged person.

The complaint noted that in excess of $ 100,000.00 had been provided to Walker from the victim since June of 2011.

Further investigation into the allegations revealed that the victim became associated with Walker when she was a caregiver for his wife at an area nursing home facility. Numerous purchases of large ticket items took place during the time frame to include the purchase of two vehicles.

Upon further investigation Morgan Walker was arrested and booked into the VPSO jail on (6) six counts of Exploitation of the Infirm with a total bond of $ 80,000.00. Steven Briggs was arrested and charged with one count of Principal to the Exploitation of the Infirm and a bond was set of $ 5000.00.

Both Walker and Briggs posted bond and were released at the time of this press release.
