McNeese State got 23 points from Patrick Richard and 20 from Jeremie Mitchell as the Cowboys evened their record at 2-2 with an 80-43 basketball victory over Dillard here Tuesday night.
The Cowboys led all the way over the winless Blue Devils (now 0-6), holding a 38-15 halftime lead and outscoring Dillard by 34 points in the second half.
Richard, McNeese's leading scorer the past two seasons, had a breakout game with his game high 23 points and he also was his team's leading rebounder with nine. He connected on nine of 18 field goals and four of seven free throws. He also shared the team high in assists with five.
Mitchell made seven of 13 field goals including a six for 11 effort from three point range. He had 11 of his points in the first half.
Dillard's lone double figure scorer was Jamal Silas with 17 points while Zachary Harmon led his team in rebounding with nine.
The Cowboys were almost as good shooting the three as they were shooting the two. They made seven of 17 three pointers for a 41.2 percent and they shot 45.8 percent total from the floor.
Dillard was forced into 25 turnovers during the game.
