Rosepine voters approve sales tax

Voters in Rosepine approved a 1/2% sales & use tax Saturday night.  In one of the earliest referendums to have all the votes tallied, 121 voted for the proposal while 81 voted against.

The Leesville Daily Leader reported in a September online edition the sales tax increase would be used for city infrastructure improvements, including streets, water lines, sewer lines, and economic development.

The newspaper reported city officials believe the tax could bring in more than $41,000 annually.
