Gas well leak near Johnson's Bayou closes LA 82

CAMERON PARISH, LA (KPLC) -

Cameron Parish OEP Advisory: ***Hwy 82 near Johnson's Bayou will be closed throughout the night***

Cameron OEP Director Eddie Benoit informed KPLC 7News that a natural gas well leak near Johnson's Bayou had closed LA 82, milepost 5, in both directions. 

The well is located between Johnson's Bayou an the Texas State Line. This is a sparsely populated area. No homes were affected by the closure. Director Benoit does not expect this to be a major public concern.  

The leak was discovered around 4:30 a.m. 

Here is the official advisory from Lake Louisiana State Police Troop D:

Advisory: AVOID **(La. 82 milepost 5 in Johnson Bayou)** for the next **(2 hours)** due to a gas leak. Some roads closed.
