LSU Bags Star Recruit

LSU coach Trent Johnson says he's

received a signed letter of intent from highly sought recruit Malik

Morgan, a shooting guard from the New Orleans area.

The 6-foot-3 Morgan is a senior at John Curtis High School,

where last season he averaged 28.9 points and nine rebounds, and

scored as much as 52 points in one game.

Johnson says he did not see a better high school guard in the

state of Louisiana last year and considers Morgan one of the best

recruits in the country at his position.

LSU says Morgan chose the Tigers over Boston College, Georgia

Tech, Missouri, Oklahoma and UTEP.

LSU opens its 2001-12 regular season at home on Saturday against

Nicholls State.
