CPSO arrests Sulphur man for burglary and theft

The following is a Press Release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

In July 2010, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a home on West Burton Street in Sulphur regarding a burglary that occurred.

When deputies arrived and spoke with the victim, he advised when he returned home, he noticed his front door was damaged and his bedroom had been ransacked.  The victim stated a fireproof safe was missing from his bedroom, which contained over $1,000 in cash, a checkbook and other personal documents.

After further investigation, detectives arrested Marty D. Ashworth, 18, Sulphur, in connection with the burglary and theft.

Ashworth, who is currently incarcerated at the Calcasieu Correctional Center for a September 6 burglary in Sulphur, was charged with simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling building; criminal damage to property; and theft over $500.

Judge Kent Savoie set his bond at $7,000.

CPSO Detective John Casarez is the lead investigator on this case.  The investigation is continuing with more arrests possible.
