CPSO arrests man for 4th Offense DWI

The following is a new release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

On November 5 around 6:00 a.m., a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputy was patrolling the area of Nelson Street and Sale Street in Lake Charles and conducted a stop on a car driven by Charles R. Istre, 35, Lake Charles, for a traffic violation.

When the deputy approached the car and spoke with Istre, he detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and his speech was very slurred.

After performing poorly on the standard field sobriety test, Istre, who has had 4 DWI arrests since 2003, was arrested and booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged DWI 4th; and driving under suspension.

Judge Ron Ware set his bond at $26,000.

CPSO Sr. Cpl. Christopher Melendy was the arresting deputy.
