Oak Park Food Pantry making a comeback

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A local food pantry on the verge of shutting down is on the comeback. Since airing our story about the Oak Park Food Pantry's dilemma the donations have been rolling in from all over the community. The latest food donation comes from the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association's Action Committee.

"The donations have been fantastic. Since the word got out the Girl Scouts, the churches and this law firm have done a wonderful job. Right now we are waiting to unload two truck loads," said Don Klein, Oak Park Food Pantry.

"We just committed today that what we are going to do is my office is going to remain a drop off point for this food pantry. And we are going to get everybody into a monthly program and get some stuff in here helping and we are going to keep this place going forever," said Attorney Ron Richard.

If you would like to donate you can drop off food items at the Richard Law Firm at 1322 Ryan Street or the Oak Park Food Pantry on 17th Street.
