CPSO releases results of DWI checkpoint

The following is a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

Lake Charles – On Saturday, November 5, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office conducted a DWI checkpoint at the 2700 block of Napoleon Street in Sulphur to target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.

Five hundred and twenty-five (525) vehicles were checked; eleven (11) field sobriety tests were administered; three (3) citations were issued; and the following two (2) people were arrested for DWI:

Emanuel L. Kennedy, 39, 2010 Patton Street, Sulphur

Douglas J. Walker, 58, 4200 Maplewood Drive, Sulphur

The following citations were issued:

  • two (2) for no seatbelt
  • one (1) for open container

Participating in this checkpoint were the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office; Lake Charles City Police; Westlake Police Department; and Louisiana State Police Troop D.

This DWI checkpoint was funded by a grant from the LA Highway Safety Commission.
