Lafayette Police arrest suspect in Armed Robbery

The following is a news release from the Lafayette Police Department:

On November 4, 2011, at approximately 2:30 am, Lafayette Police responded to the 100 block of Glouchester Drive regarding a shooting.  When officers arrived on the scene they discovered the victim with a single gunshot wound to the facial area.  According to the victim, a 25 year old male of Lafayette, he had provided the suspect with a ride back to his vehicle on Glouchester Drive.  As they drove up at the location, the suspect produced a handgun and attempted to rob the victim.  The victim and the suspect began to scuffle, at which time the gun fired, striking the victim in the face.  The suspect exited the victim's vehicle and fled the area in his vehicle. 

A short time later Lafayette Police located the vehicle on South College Road.  After a short pursuit the suspect crashed his vehicle at the intersection of South College Road and West Pinhook Road.  The suspect attempted to flee on foot, but was arrested by police. 

The victim was transported to an area hospital and is listed in stable condition.  The suspect, Dontevious Thomas (19) was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Battery, Resisting an Officer, Theft, and Possession of Marijuana.  The case remains under investigation.

    Three suspects in a homicide at an RV park on Broad Street Saturday morning have been arrested, according to the Lake Charles Police Department. LCPD responded to a 911 call in reference to an armed robbery and shooting at the Twelve Palms RV Park around 6 a.m. Saturday, July 22.
