Jimmy Bartie sentenced to life in prison

The following is a Press Release from Calcasieu Parish District Attorney's Office:

On November 2, 2011, Judge Clayton Davis sentenced Jimmy Bartie to life in the Louisiana Department of Corrections for Aggravated Kidnapping. 

Additionally, Judge Davis sentenced Bartie to 50 years for Attempted First Degree Murder; 50 years on three counts of Armed Robbery with a Firearm to run consecutively; and 20 years on two counts of Car Jacking to run concurrently. 

Judge Davis ordered each sentence to be served without the benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.

On September 8, 2011, a jury found Bartie guilty of the offenses.  Assistant District Attorney Jonathan Blake prosecuted the case.

    Two people are dead following a single-vehicle crash that happened east of Lake Charles early Thursday morning, state police said.

    Sgt. James Anderson with Louisiana State Police Troop D said the crash occurred shortly before 1 a.m. on La. 3020 near Catalina Street.
