LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - It was four years ago tonight a hit and run took the life of Brian Birdsong. It happened outside OB's Bar and Grill back in 2007 when Birdsong was struck by a truck while trying to cross Ryan Street.
Despite the fact that it took place on one of the busiest streets in Lake Charles, authorities have had a hard time finding anyone who will come forward with information. Surveillance video from near the bar's entrance shows a patron rushing to assist Birdsong moments after he was struck. The video also shows what appears to be the suspect vehicle. It appears to be a single cab white Chevrolet or GMC truck.
In an interview on the 2nd anniversary Birdsong's mother told us she was still waiting for closure.
"I know someone saw something, and I'm asking whoever saw anything to just come forward," said Linda January.
A reward is being offered in the case. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 439-2222.
