CPSO arrest Lake Charles man for burglary and theft

The following is a Press Release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

On June 16, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to Harley Davidson of Lake Charles regarding a report of a burglary of a storage building on the property.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered the business owner encountered an intruder inside a storage building on the property attempting to steal numerous items, including welding equipment and other tools.   Upon seeing the business owner, the intruder fled.

Deputies also discovered the intruder used bolt cutters to cut a hole in the door of the building to gain access.  The bolt cutters, welding equipment and tools, as well as a pair of black gloves used by the intruder, were recovered by deputies.

After further investigation, DNA evidence and fingerprints found at the scene linked, James D. LeBlanc, Jr., 27, 5th Street, Lake Charles, to the burglary.

On October 25, LeBlanc was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with simple burglary; criminal damage to property; and theft over $1,500.

Judge David Ritchie set his bond at $110,000.

CPSO Detective James Leubner is the lead investigator on this case.

A few showers possible Monday for the eclipseA few showers possible Monday for the eclipse

Overnight, we will have clouds clear and will become mostly clear. Temperatures will slowly fall to the mid 70s. It will feel very warm due to the humidity. Heat indices will be in the 80s, throughout the night. Monday, the day of the eclipse, there is just a 30% chance of rain, so we will most likely have a few clouds during the time of the eclipse. There could be a few showers around the peak of the eclipse, but more likely, at least some clouds.
