Residents say they're unhappy with Merryville's pro-tem mayor

Merryville residents aren't happy with the current Mayor Teresa Havens, who lost in the mayoral race October, 22 to Larry Carroll.

Residents say she is firing two town employees, the town clerk and the public works director. They say the firing Havens is doing does not follow state law because these positions were appointed by the people. Legally, the council has to vote to fire employees.

But residents say most of the council members are close relatives or friends to Mayor Havens, and the way the town is being governed is unfair and wrong.

We are working to get both sides of the story.
