Woman charged with eleven counts of forgery

The following is a Press Release from the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office:

Sheriff Sam Craft of the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office announces the arrest of Hope Sereal, 42, of Leesville.

The Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office received a report of forgery from a local resident.  The resident advised that Hope Sereal presented and cashed a check at a local bank that was made payable to him.  The check was returned to the bank at which time the individual was notified that the check had be returned unpaid and was deducted from his account.

Upon further investigation it was discovered that numerous checks were written from a third party's account by Hope Sereal.  The owner of the account also filed a report regarding the fact that all suspect checks were written without her knowledge or permission.

Hope Sereal was arrested on October 21, 2011 and charged with two counts of Exploitation of the Infirm, due to the fact that the male and female victims were over the age of 60, and eleven counts of Forgery.  Total bond on Sereal was set at $ 81,500.00.  Sereal remains in the Vernon Parish Jail at the time of this release
