MGM and Creative Casinos to develop and manage Mojito Pointe Casino Resort

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

MGM Resorts International and Creative Casinos, LLC are partnering to develop and manage the casino resort Mojito Pointe which will begin construction in Calcasieu Parish by the end of the year.

CEO of Creative Casinos, LLC Dan Lee said the strategic relationship is a win-win for the companies and the parish.

"It helps MGM expand their system, plus they get to be part of this exciting new resort," Lee said. "For me, it helps me to deliver the resort."

Lee said the $400,000,000 casino resort is an exciting new development for Calcasieu Parish.

"This is one of the biggest, most successful, high-end casino companies in the world coming to Lake Charles," he said.

Much of the financing for the resort still needs arranging, Lee said. But with the big investment by MGM, it's easier for everything to fall into place.

"I think we'll have the money lined up by Thanksgiving and we can start construction right after that," Lee said.

Mojito Pointe construction should take about 21 months and be completed in 2013.
