LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A week after hearing positive feedback from a market study suggesting a hotel connected to the Civic Center would be good for business, the City of Lake Charles is moving forward with the idea.
On Thursday a letter will be sent out to three hotel developers that have expressed interest in developing an upscale hotel on the Lakefront. The three developers include: Hilton Garden Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, and the Hyatt company.
In the letter the City is requesting a conceptual design with a minimum of 150 rooms among other specifics.
"We want to know their financing plan, their construction timeline, their contractor if they know who their contractor is going to be. Also significant terms and conditions of lease that they are seeking, any financial incentives they are seeking from the City as well as the present value of those incentives. And then their hotel development and management experience. Also a business plan in 500 words or less about what they want to do at the Civic Center," explained Mayor Randy Roach.
Mayor Roach expects a four to six week response time.
