CPSO Arrests DQ man for failure to register as sex offender

The following is a Press Release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

On October 12, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Compliance and Awareness Unit (CAP Unit) detectives arrested registered sex offender Elvis R. Bilodeau, Sr., 38, Kelly Street, DeQuincy, and charged him with failure to register as a sex offender, after an investigation revealed he had moved without notifying the proper authorities within three (3) days, as required by law for all registered sex offenders.

During the arrest of Bilodeau at his residence, detectives recovered a 12 gauge shotgun from his bedroom.  He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender; and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Judge David Ritchie set his bond at $150,000.

Bilodeau was convicted of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile in Calcasieu Parish in October 2009. 

CPSO Detective Sgt. Scott Miller is the lead investigator on this case.  CPSO Detective Chris Ryan and Detective James Maddox were the arresting deputies on this case.

    One local fraternity made sure some families in Southwest Louisiana had a fully cooked meal to enjoy for Christmas. "We have turkeys and hams, but it's enough food in the box to feed a family of eight," said  Mark Gallashaw, president of Kappa Alpha Psi's Lake Charles Alumni Chapter. Thirty-five boxes of cooked meals are getting ready to be delivered to families across Southwest Louisiana.

    The Lake Charles Police Department has arrested one person after a nearly 20-minute pursuit Saturday afternoon. LCPD received a call of a person shooting a firearm from a vehicle on the 1900 block of Prejean Drive in the afternoon, said LCPD Deputy Chief Mark Kraus. Police located the vehicle near Hwy 14. A 19-minute pursuit then ensued, and ended with a suspect arrested.
