McNeese Homecoming Court announced

Danielle Morrissey - Queen and Matthew "Ross" Theriot - King Danielle Morrissey - Queen and Matthew "Ross" Theriot - King

The following is a News Release from McNeese State University:

Danielle Morrissey, a mass communication senior from Moss Bluff, and Matthew "Ross" Theriot, a mass communication senior from Creole, have been named as McNeese's 2011 Homecoming Queen and King. The royal pair and court will be presented during the McNeese vs. Sam Houston State football game at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, in Cowboy Stadium.

Other court members to be presented during halftime ceremonies are: Jonathan Landry, Lafayette, Jarrett LeBlanc, Hathaway, Erin Moore, Westlake, and Kristen Veazey, Lake Charles, seniors; Megan Anderson, Hessmer, Jessica Fry, Lake Charles, Will Hetzel, Hathaway, and Nicholas Johnson, Welsh, juniors; Leah Moore, Welsh, and Dillon Richard, Welsh, sophomores; Grant Dunn, Moss Bluff, and Heather Morrissey, Moss Bluff, freshmen.

Morrissey is the daughter of Joe and Debbie Morrissey. She is president of the Student Union Board, a member of Phi Mu sorority and the Dream Girl of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. She was nominated by SUB, Rotaract and Blue and Gold Peer Leaders.

Theriot is the son of Sidney Theriot and Victoria Manuel. He is a former Student Government Association president, executive director of McNeese's Up ‘til Dawn and the recipient of the 2011 Danny Thomas Leadership Award from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He was nominated by Up ‘til Dawn.

Landry, son of Ivan and Valerie Landry, is majoring in biology. He is a member of the football team, Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and the Student Athletic Advisory Committee.  He was nominated by Pi Kappa Alpha.

LeBlanc, son of Tim and Lisa LeBlanc, is majoring in exercise science. He was a member of the 2011 Spring Court, is an Academic All-American in cross country and was the 2011 Southland Conference Outdoor Track Champion in the 5,000 and 10,000 meter races. He was nominated by the Pre-Physical Therapy Society.

E. Moore, daughter of Mark and Debbie Moore, is a biological science major. She is the 2011 Miss McNeese, president of Chi Omega sorority and a member of the Pre-Medicine/Pre-Dental Society. She was nominated by Chi Omega.

Veazey, daughter of Paul and Brenda Veazey, is majoring in psychology. She is Chi Omega Sorority's member educator, secretary for Students for Life and historian for the Spanish Club. She was nominated by Students for Life.

Anderson, daughter of Clark and Melissa Anderson, is majoring in mass communication. She is Panhellenic chair for Chi Omega sorority, the marketing and public relations coordinator for SUB and a SGA senator. She was nominated by Blue and Gold Peer Leaders and SUB.

Fry, daughter of Dudley and Susan Fry, is majoring in nursing. She is director of social enrichment and the recruitment chair for Alpha Delta Pi sorority and is on the executive board of the Student Nurses Association. She was nominated by Alpha Delta Pi.

Hetzel, son of Glen and Mindy Hetzel, is majoring in marketing. He is a Blue and Gold Peer Leader, a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and a SGA senator. He was nominated by the American Marketing Association, Blue and Gold Peer Leaders and SUB.

Johnson, son of Wayne and Carla Johnson, is majoring in civil engineering. He serves on the executive council for Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, is a Blue and Gold Peer Leader and a member of SUB, Newman Club and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was nominated by Pi Kappa Alpha.

L. Moore, daughter of Robert and Jacqui Moore, is majoring in nursing. She is a member of Phi Mu sorority and a Blue and Gold Peer Leader. She was nominated by Students for Life.

Richard, son of Steven and Celeste Richard, is a double major in marketing and graphic design. He is vice president of Students for Life, a SGA senator and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and the Greek Unity Board. He was nominated by Students for Life.

Dunn, son of Ronnie and Ann Dunn, is majoring in mathematics. He is a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and SUB and participates in intramural sports. He was nominated by Kappa Sigma.

Morrissey, daughter of Joe and Debbie Morrissey, is majoring in marketing. She is the Phi class president of Phi Mu, a SGA senator and SUB's freshman factor committee vice president. She was nominated by SUB.

    For the Oakdale Police Department one of their constant battles isn't necessarily with criminals, but instead with their phones.     Two people were killed in a car crash this evening shortly after 8 p.m. according to Master Trooper Brooks David, with Louisiana State Police Troop I. The crash happened on Highway 91 near Highway 100. One person died at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital where they died shortly after arrival, David said.
