The following is a Press Release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office:

On October 12, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to 2019 Sam Houston Jones Pkwy in Moss Bluff, in reference to a report of a suspicious odor emitting from a travel trailer.  It was also reported that two men, later identified as Michael W. Pettifield, 35, Sam Houston Jones Pkwy, Moss Bluff, and Eugene F. Earley, 39, Summerwood Drive, Sulphur, were dumping bags of trash in the woods behind the travel trailer.

When deputies arrived, they observed Pettifield and Earley walking out of the wooded area behind the trailer.  When deputies searched that area they  recovered a large plastic bag which contained several chemicals that were consistent with creation or operation of a clandestine lab and also several syringes.

Pettifield and Earley were arrested and booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center and both charged with creation/operation of a clandestine lab; obstruction of justice; and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Pettifield was also charged with possession of CDS II; and 3 counts of possession with intent of CDS II.

On July 31 and September 10, Pettifield was arrested by CPSO and charged with possession of CDS II (methamphetamine).  He is awaiting trial on those charges.

CPSO Deputies Kara Adams and Chad Collins were the arresting deputies.
