JENNINGS, LA (KPLC) -

A Jennings man that's accused of killing his stepfather in August after a family disturbance has been indicted.

Sterlyn Vital, 28, is facing charges of second-degree murder, and if convicted he faces life in prison.

Vital is accused of killing 61-year-old Gary Hawkins by running him over with a vehicle in the front yard of the Hawkins residence during a disturbance on August 12th.

Authorities say that the disturbance involved Vital, his mother, and stepfather.

Police say that Hawkins called the police about 20 minutes before he was run over to report that Vital had pushed his wife.
