WOOFSTOCK 2011, Helping Dogs find homes

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

This is the first year for WOOFSTOCK. The event was hosted by LaPaw Rescue and TNR.

Vendors along with 19 registered rescue groups surrounded the Lake Charles Civic Center's Amphitheater.

Dogs who were up for adoption along with pets and their owners, were treated to a variety of entertainment. The Calcasieu Sheriff's Department were on hand with their K-9 unit, demonstrating their dog's obedience.

The event organizers say that WOOFSTOCK is primed to be an annual event, meant to help local non-profit shelters pay their veterinary bills.

Purina Pro Plan Rally to Rescue was a major sponsor of Woofstock 2011.
