Ongoing investigations in Acadia Parish

The following is a Press Release from the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office:

Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon advises that deputies from his office responded to the following calls that are presently being investigated.

09/30/11

-Aggravated assault with a weapon, 5300 block of Riverside Road, Iota.  The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

09/29/11

-Residential burglary, 500 block of Ginger Road, Iota.

-Numerous reports of suspicious female knocking on doors asking for money, Tanner & Guard Road near Scott.

-Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle with accident, 300 block of Unatex Road, Eunice.

-Off road vehicles on roadway near Dr. Parrot Avenue & Phillips Road, Branch.

-Motor vehicle accident, 2500 block of Johnson Hwy, Eunice.

-Residential burglary & criminal damage to property, 600 block of Gotts Cove Road, Iota.

-Motor vehicle traffic stop, Point Aux Loupe, Iota.  Deputies arrested Tyler Sloane, age 19, of Valse Drive, Eunice and charged him with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and headlights required.

-Suspicious motor vehicle near White Oak Hwy, Church Point.

-Report of possible mail scam, 1400 block of S Avenue J, Crowley.   

-Report of suspicious person, Hwy 95 North near Duson.

-Harassment through social media and telephone, 9100 block of Faulk Road, Crowley.

-Report of an 18 wheeler on roadway blocking traffic flow, Clement Road, Egan.

-Theft of a lap top, 2600 block of Fournerat Road, Eunice.

-Criminal damage to private property and roadway, 4 wheelers, Idaho Road, Crowley.

-Theft of an air conditioner from a shop, 2500 block of Fournerat Road, Eunice. 

-Suspicious person, 3500 block of Fournerat Road, Eunice.

-Power lines on roadway, weather related, Goodrich Road, Crowley.   Slemco responded to the incident.

-Domestic disturbance, 200 block of Lisa Drive, Crowley.

09/28/11

-Motor vehicle fire, Muskrat Road & Hwy 92, Morse.   No injuries reported.

-Harassing telephone calls, 200 block of Valarie Drive, Crowley.

-Harassment through social media, 3500 block of Pitreville Hwy. Church Point.

-Criminal damage to property, 9300 block of Faulk Road, Crowley.

-Tree on roadway, weather related, 100 block of Gayle Drive, Church Point.

-Victim of identity theft, 200 block of Bergeaux Road, Jennings.

-Motor vehicle break in, 100 block of Oak Tree Lane, Rayne.

-Residential fire near Schultz and Allen Lane, Crowley.    Branch, Mire and Church Point Fire Department responded to the incident.

-Disturbance, 2100 block of Peach Bloom Hwy. Church Point.

-Domestic disturbance, 7400 block of Eunice Iota Hwy. Eunice.  Deputies charged Dustin Higginbotham, age 27 & Kyla Higginbotham; age 24   both of Eunice Iota Hwy, Eunice with domestic battery 1st offense.

-Suspicious person, 1500 block of Aymond Street, Eunice.

-Disturbance, 1600 block of Clement Road, Crowley.  Deputies advised a female victim was ran over by a motor vehicle during the disturbance.  The victim was transported to the American Legion Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.   Bernadette Myers, age 41, of Blanche Avenue, Estherwood was arrested and charged with second degree battery.  Her bond was set at $20,000.

09/27/11

-Theft of dogs, 800 block of W Plaquemine, Church Point.

Sheriff Melancon is asking anyone with information on any of the incidents to contact the Sheriff's Office at 788-8700 or 911.
