UPDATE: Suspect Arrested in Bank Robberies

The following is a Press Release from the Lafayette Police Department:

Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department have arrested the suspect involved in two bank robberies that occurred in the City of Lafayette.  Lafayette Police, with the assistance of the Freeport Police Department and the U. S. Marshal Services Violent Offenders Task Force from Houston and Lafayette, apprehended the suspect in Clute, Texas, without incident.  The suspect, Kimrick Lewis (29) of Freeport Texas, was taken into custody at approximately 9:00 pm, on September 27, 2011. Lewis was booked into the local correctional center where he will remain until he is extradited back to Louisiana. 

Lewis is currently being held for an arrest warrant for one count of Armed Robbery for the robbery of Gulf Coast Bank on September 16, 2011.  Lewis will face an additional Armed Robbery charge upon his return to Louisiana for the bank robbery of Gulf Coast Bank on April 20, 2011.  The case remains under investigation.
