Saints End Hartley's Season

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The New Orleans Saints have put place kicker

Garrett Hartley on injured reserve, ending his season and leaving

41-year-old veteran John Kasay as their primary place kicker for

this season.

The transactions were posted by the NFL on its website on


Hartley, 25, has been sidelined since hurting his right hip in

the third exhibition game of the preseason.

Kasay, now in his 21st season, has made all six of his field

goal attempts in the Saints' first three games, including one from

as long as 53 yards and four from beyond 30 yards.

The Saints also have released defensive tackle Mitch King, a

second-year pro who has played a reserve role in New Orleans' first

three games and has been credited with three tackles.
