Great Strides For Cystic Fibrosis helping find cure

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

Lake Area walkers were out in full force Saturday morning raising awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. Family members, friends and loved ones came out to support those living with the disease and who have passed.

Great Strides For Cystic Fibrosis is the national foundation's largest fundraiser to help find a cure. 15-month-old Landon McKee was diagnosed shortly after birth.

"It was hard at first, but we educated ourselves about the disease and we've come to accept it. Landon is doing great. We thank everyone for their continued support in fighting this disease," said Tiffany and Brett McKee, Landon's parents.

"This is fantastic! I really didn't expect this many people to be out here. I really didn't know anything about CF until my co-worker's child was diagnosed. We all have learned a lot in the last seven months," said Jessica Pickett.

"I'm glad it's a beautiful day and everybody came out to support the cause. We are thrilled to be out here in support of our co-worker's daughter and to support the other parents and families going through this. We are working towards a cure for Cystic Fibrosis," said Kytra Gordon.
