Lake Charles Police Investigating kidnapping

Following Press Release From Lake Charles Police:

On September 21, 2011 at 4:50 p.m. the Lake Charles Police Department received a call in reference to a kidnapping. Upon arrival Officers learned that a 7 year old boy was abducted from 4249 5th Avenue, Cypress Apartments.

About one and a half hours later we received another call in reference to the 7 year old being located walking near Hwy 14 and Legion Street. Once we arrived we learned that it was the abducted child and returned him to his family.

Police are searching for the suspect who is described as being a black male with a dark complexion, short afro, wearing a blue short sleeve shirt and blue pants with paint on them and brown slip on work boots. The vehicle is described as a dark brown 4-door pick up truck.

The safe return of this child is due to the involvement of a concerned member of our community who felt it necessary to get involved and for that we are grateful. At this point in the investigation we are treating this as an abduction and we are asking the public to follow the lead of the concerned citizen and call 911 if they believe they have information.

Additional information will be released once it is available. Lead investigators are Officer Douglas Heaton, Detective Lecia McCullough and Detective Hope Sanders.
