Suspect Sought in Bank Robbery

The following is a Press Release from the Lafayette Police Department:

On September 16, 2011, at approximately 3:48 pm, Lafayette Police responded to 4310 Johnston Street regarding an armed robbery.

The suspect entered the bank through the front door and approached a teller.  He produced a semi-automatic handgun at the counter and demanded cash.

The teller turned over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect exited the bank.  The suspect is believed to have fled on foot north into the subdivision.

It is possible the suspect entered a small vehicle and fled the area. There was one other customer and multiple employees inside of the bank at the time of the robbery.

There were no injuries during the incident.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6'00" medium build wearing a white T-shirt, dark sunglasses and a hat.

Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department are asking anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspects to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
