Calcasieu Parish issues emergency declaration

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The following is a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury.

Calcasieu Parish Issues State Declaration of Emergency

September 2, 2011 – Due to the threat of current weather conditions associated with Tropical Storm Lee, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury has submitted a State Declaration of Emergency for the entire Parish effective immediately.  The Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness will remain active in monitoring the weather system and address any safety issues as they develop.

The current forecast predicts Calcasieu Parish will be impacted with heavy rains and periods of high winds. Some low-lying areas could experience flooding.  Residents are encouraged to monitor the weather conditions throughout the weekend and stay tuned to local media outlets for the latest emergency information.
