Rayne teen dies in dirt bike accident

The following is a press release from the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office:

RAYNE, LA - The Acadia Parish Coroner's Office pronounced a 16 year old juvenile from Rayne dead at the scene following an accident that occurred earlier today. According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon his office received a call from a family member around 10:00 a.m. reporting the missing juvenile.

Investigating deputies learned that the juvenile apparently left the residence last night on a off road dirt bike and had not returned home. A search of the area was conducted by deputies and family members and at approximately 11:43 a.m. the juvenile's body was located in a bean field at the intersection of L. Boudreaux Road and Hwy 98, approximately three miles from his residence.

Deputies believe that the juvenile who is being identified as Jason Blake Petitjean of Mire Hwy, Rayne fail to stop at the stop sign causing the off road bike to become airborne landing in the bean field.
