Man Stabs Woman, Walks In front of Train

RAYNE, LA (AP) - Authorities say 29-year-old Gregory Redondo stabbed his girlfriend, then stood in front of an oncoming train and was killed.

Here's how it all started: Rayne Police were called to a stabbing about 11 a.m. Friday.

They say the woman told investigators her boyfriend had stabbed her. Soon after finding the wounded woman, Lafayette parish sheriff's deputies found Redondo's car... smashed into a telephone pole near his house.

Then, a train engineer called the sheriff's office to say someone was standing on the tracks. Officials identified that person as Redondo.

The woman was reported in stable condition at American Legion Hospital in Crowley.
