Avastin: FDA gives the boot to breast cancer drug

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A popular cancer drug may stop being approved for treating breast cancer.

Nationally, there are cancer patients swearing that their survival chances have been increased by the use of the drug Avastin.

However, the FDA has questioned Avastin's statistical effectiveness in treating breast cancer in a majority of women. Those recent studies were reviewed by an FDA panel in July.
