O.J.'s Accomplice: People 'Fall To His Knees' 8-11-2010

Charm, charisma and celebrity.
That’s the appeal of O.J. Simpson, according to Clarence “C.J.” Stewart, the man convicted alongside the former football star in the Palace Station robbery trial.
In an exclusive interview with FOX5, Stewart spoke candidly about Simpson and how their friendship ended with both going to prison.
“He just has that personality,” Stewart said in the interview from the Northern Nevada Correctional Center, where he is serving a 7 ½ to 27-year sentence.
“This guy has one of the greatest personalities you can ever be around. People just fall to his knees, and he enjoys it,” he said.
Simpson, now 63, remained in the spotlight following his acquittal on murder charges in 1995, although he no longer enjoyed worldwide fame and high-profile acting roles that made him a star after his football career ended.
That criminal case haunted Simpson, Stewart said, as did the civil verdict that cost him his fortune and forced him to take severe steps to regain personal property.
“When he gets under pressure of alcohol, meds, or whatever, he loses control,” Stewart said.
That pressure, Stewart added, is what inspired Simpson’s failed attempt at recovering his memorabilia from room 1203 of the Palace Station in September of 2007.
”Every time I get deep into thought about this it’s not easy,” he said. “I’ve lost so much and I have given up a whole lot. I know Mr. Simpson wouldn’t do [the same] for me.”
Asked if he had the opportunity to speak directly to Simpson, Stewart replied, “Why you letting me go through this? Why are you hurting my children? I lost a sister on my birthday because of this sadness.”
Although Stewart said he holds no animosity toward Simpson, his wife, Teresa Wuertemberg, told FOX5 she never approved of the friendship.
“He ruins people’s lives. He has for many years now,” Wuertemberg said of Simpson. “His own sister told me everyone who has anything to do with my brother ends up in trouble, dead, or it’s just not good.”
