Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -

People of SWLA came out in droves to various stores to make sure they stocked up on all things "Hurricane Preparedness" related.

The state of Louisiana giving a sales tax break to specific items needed to prepare you and your home for any impending hurricanes. Hurricane season starts June 1st for our area.

Travis Hoffpauir, Floor Manager for Stine Lumber on Nelson Road in Lake Charles, recommends getting ahead of the game and buy: batteries, flashlights, an ice chest, generator and anything to prepare your windows.

And even though the sales tax event is over, store personnel encourage people to get prepared early.
