In 2008 Calcasieu Police Jurors bought the 901 Lakeshore Building downtown for $4.9 million.
Well, now the 110-thousand square feet of space is getting renovations to modernize the building, remove asbestos and get it ready for the Calcasieu DA's office to move in, along with others.
At tonight's meeting police jurors accepted the low bid of Pat Williams Construction which was $1.4 million. Administrator Byan Beam says many improvements relate to mechanical needs such as air conditioning.
The renovation project will also include the floor used by the U.S. Coast Guard. The work is to be finished by the end of the year.
Replacement value of the building is estimated at $23 million.
