Orthopaedic Surgeon John Noble Jr., MD, with Center for Orthopaedics, served as an instructor at a recent surgical product training at the Stryker Navigation's national sales meeting in San Antonio. Stryker is one of the world's leading orthopaedic technology companies. Dr. Noble trained Stryker's entire sales force on surgical techniques, epidemiology, and navigation for femoro-acetabular impingement (FAI). FAI is condition that results from too much friction in the hip joint, which can lead to numerous pain-causing conditions, including cartilage damage, labral tears, early hip arthritis, hyperlaxity, sports hernias, and low back pain. Dr. Noble has been working with Stryker on the use of computer assisted navigation for FAI and other hip surgical applications. In February of this year, he performed the first computer assisted navigation for FAI repair in the United States at Imperial Calcasieu Surgical Center in Lake Charles.
