WESTLAKE, La. (KPLC) - Early Tuesday morning, many 7News viewers heard a loud boom around 1 a.m.
After making some phone calls, we confirmed with Westlake Polymers that it was a controlled pressure release at their plant that caused the boom.
According to a number of people who called our newsroom and several comments on our 7news Facebook page, residents say the sound was loud enough to rattle their homes.
Westlake Polymers says there is no threat to surrounding areas and no one was hurt.
