LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A Lake Charles native who had been reported missing in Japan after last week's earthquake and tsunami disasters, is now safe.
38-year-old Darren Comeaux has spent the last twelve years in Japan teaching English and history.
His mother recently reported him missing. She last heard from him just after the earthquake struck.
Just a few minutes before KPLC's 10:00 p.m. newscast, Comeaux's mother said she had finally heard from him.
She says he and his family are safe but they call the experience very harrowing.
