Beautification Committee receives donation for Community Garden

The following is a news release from the City of Lake Charles:

The Greater Lake Charles Beautification Committee of the City of Lake Charles has received a $5,000 grant from Cameron LNG for the Committee's Lake Charles Community Garden project.

Development of the Community Garden is being planned for this spring on the west end of City property located in the 600 block of Ryan St. in downtown Lake Charles.  The Community Garden will be maintained by local community groups.

The Community Garden will promote community spirit, beautification, education and service to others.

Cameron LNG is a liquefied natural gas receipt terminal situated along the Calcasieu Channel in Hackberry.  A subsidiary of Sempra Energy, the terminal began commercial operations in 2009 and has the capacity to process 1.5 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas.  Sempra Energy, based in San Diego, is a Fortune 500 energy services holding company.
