Housing units now available under PSH Program

The following is a news release from Volunteers of America:

At this time we have a large number of two bedroom units available in the Lake Charles area under the Permanent Supportive Housing Program ( and some units in Sulphur as well).  We are seeking referrals of people who are in need of subsidized housing and meet the following criteria:

1)  Earn less than 30% of the Area Median Income

2)  Have a household member with a substantial, longterm disability

3)  Have a need for support services to help the household maintain their housing (this does not include financial support)

4)  Have a need for a two bedroom apartment, meaning there are two unrelated members in the household who have a need for separate bedrooms or  a single person who has a medical need for a second bedroom, such as someone who provides 24-hour care for the applicant or excessive medical equipment.

Please contact Volunteers of America at 337-497-0034 if you have any questions.  An application packet with additional information is attached.  Complete applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, so please encourage applicants to submit an application as soon as possible.  Please forward this information to any other relevant parties.
